Graduation Star Box

Do you know someone who's graduating soon? Are they a star in your eyes? Then this cracker-style graduation star box will be perfect for gifting them a special treat!

It's held closed with a ribbon, but once that's released, the box opens like an explosion of stars to reveal the gift inside! ⭐️

Perfect for any academic celebration, this box is available through my Etsy shop as an SVG cut file, as well as a PDF if you prefer to cut out by hand. The template includes a 2023 gift tag (as well as a 2024 version) and a cute, little tassel! (UPDATED January 2024 to now include 2024 and 2025 versions of the tag)

To make one, you will need:

Graduation Star Box template (PDF and SVG available)
* Computer and printer to print the PDF template and instructions
* Digital cutting machine (I have only tested this on my Cricut machines)
* Double sided cardstock (220-250gsm recommended)
* Thinner card or paper for the decorative stars (90-160gsm recommended)
* Craft glue / PVA
* Ribbon

If you are not using a cutting machine, you will also need:

* Craft knife / scissors
* Scoring tool
* Ruler

Watch my video tutorial showing how to assemble the box, and follow the tips below.

TIP 1: Allow the tag and the tassel to hang freely by keeping the attachment piece loose.

TIP 2 : When tying the ribbon for the first time, gently pull the three larger stars outwards and allow the three smaller stars to form a triangle in the centre.

I hope that I have inspired you to create your own little star boxes, which, of course, don't have to be solely for graduation! How about creating some festive boxes using Christmas papers, or maybe matching them to a birthday party or wedding colour scheme?!

However you choose to make them, have fun and let your creativity shine through! ⭐️
