Hello, and welcome to my final blog post of 2021!
Towards the end of this year I started making some of my pencil favour boxes for end of term gifts, and it occurred to me that instead of just using a patterned cardstock for the main piece, I could use a plain colour cardstock as a base and add some patterned paper panels on top to give it a smoother, cleaner look. The extra layer also provides added strength to the main part of the box.
I've updated my templates (available as both SVG and PDF in my Etsy shop) and I've recorded a new video tutorial, just to show how to add the panels onto the finished box.
It isn't necessary, but I tried to follow the pattern around the pencil by adding the panels in the same order that they had been cut out by my Cricut. I lined the panels up fairly closely like this in Design Space to try to keep as much of the pattern continuity as possible:
I hope you like this updated design and, of course, if you have previously purchased my Pencil Favour Box template, and would like to have the panels as well, then just message me through my Etsy shop and I'll send you the file to download it again.
Happy crafting!
Suzanne
